
I Have Always Built in Systems
If you have ever done serious work and still felt invisible, you already understand the frustration that built this company.
Visibility, as it is usually taught, assumes effort will solve everything. We're told to post more, show up more, be creative, and be consistent. Yet effort on its own does not compound. And in that case, recognition never turns into leverage.
Long before I had language for it, I was recognising patterns, noticing structures, and building systems.
As a child, I had a period when I was completely obsessed with drawing buildings, staircases, and Kenya's famous matatus, way before I moved to portraits. My absolute favourite creative project (to this day) was a hand-drawn comic strip in the style of a high school romcom, because why not. My sisters would eagerly await the next pages while I spent days constructing scenes, adjusting angles, and making sure the story held together from one frame to the next.
Even then, creativity was never simply about expression. It was about sequencing, about continuity, and about solving problems. It was also about solving for coherence. That wiring stayed with me.
I am neurodivergent, after all. Pattern recognition and attention to detail have always been heightened in the way I think. I notice structural gaps early, inconsistencies quickly, and second-order effects before they surface. At times, that intensity can feel excessive. More often, it has been an advantage.
In my twenties, it was sharpened.
Through AIESEC, I began to see how leadership, culture, and performance are shaped less by enthusiasm and more by systems. Later, teaching English in Latin America deepened my relationship with language itself. As a logophile, I see words differently. They are more than just carriers of meaning. They frame perception. Small shifts in phrasing can and do change meaning. And precision? Precision changes positioning.
Years later, after internalising The 4-Hour Workweek, I began freelancing as a digital nomad. I wrote blogs and shaped digital narratives for founders and professionals across borders. Whether I was typing hundreds of words next to a beach in Zanzibar, a Lake in Malawi, or a hostel in Thailand, my greatest joy came from knowing I was helping people communicate better online. In 2015, a PR agency created a digital media role specifically for me. I then went on to work across multiple agencies and organisations, observing closely how reputation is constructed and how easily it weakens when there is no underlying system reinforcing it.
Then the shift from career progression to something more deliberate began. It all began with a simple request.
A friend working in development was told she needed to become more visible. Not louder or performative. Just more visible. I began helping her structure her LinkedIn presence. Then her colleagues asked. Then their networks, too. The pattern repeated, revealing something uncomfortable.
Impact-driven professionals were doing meaningful work, yet online they were consistently overshadowed by louder, more aggressive voices.
Algorithms reward certainty and volume. They amplify speed more easily than nuance. Over time, that imbalance compounds. I do not believe toxic and performative volume should win simply because it understands distribution better.
Enter ChatGPT.
My wiring is such that I tend to feel obligated to try out emerging technology: my excitement about the internet as a teenager, social media as a young adult, and podcasting as a 30-something. AI chatbots were no different. I began integrating them into my own workflow. And something slowly shifted. I began using them much less as a substitute for thinking and more as a structural amplifier.
AI recognises patterns at scale. That is its strength. When paired with human judgement, it becomes a partner. It reduces friction, maintains consistency, and makes structure easier to maintain when motivation fluctuates.
That is when this single insight became unavoidable. Visibility is not a performance problem. It is a structural one.
Most advice out there focuses on creativity, courage, or frequency. Very little addresses infrastructure. Yet infrastructure is what allows recognition to accumulate rather than reset. And when recognition accumulates, it becomes leverage. You are remembered clearly when decisions are made, referred precisely when someone needs your expertise, trusted sooner, and considered first. All of that because your positioning is reinforced over time.
